Fri, 25 Aug 2017 12:14:17 +0000Tony Reviews 'Wind River''Wind River' was shot in Utah.http://chic.clipsyndicate.com/video/playlist/12524/7060417?cpt=8&wpid=2637KTVX ABC 4 Salt Lake City>> haley: the time is 6:14 am and tony is with us. with a movie that has kind of had a little tiered release pretty messy missing theories but now it is going a lot bigger. >> tony: where talking about wind river. it is opening them wide release around the country today. but it has been in utah because it was filmed here. for a couple of weeks and it premiered at sundance. it stars jeremy and -- the film focuses on an fbi agent that teams up with a small town veteran game trucker to investigate a murder that occurred on a native reservation known as wind river. it was filmed here in utah as i said. i had a chance to speak with the start jeremy renner. >> tony: it didn't cement it was an easy shoot. >> especially for a first time director and you know, i was concerned about a lot of things because of that. just the weather and how it can dictate your day and the entire experience we had a really great team assembled and it took everybody being great at what they do. to help tell the story and that landscape and that majestic land it was a huge character in part of the storytelling. so wanted to use the environment to limit this and find what we need to find and help tell the story. >> tony: were you surprised a bit about how professional utah film crews are? >> that was a lovely experience. it was my first time shooting there. we shot very little in the actual studio. we had, i remember bringing over some things we had a great crew. the crew had to deal with difficult situations. it was probably the toughest part. everyone has to be -- dragged up a bunch of equipment to elevation at 10 or 12,000 feet sometimes. everyon was great. we had a wonderful experience and then we got premiere of the movie there in utah. at sundance. where we actually shot the movie. it was very special. >> tony: i know you do the superhero thing as well. but there is something really compelling and involving about wind river. >> i'm not going to disagree with you. we had to fight to get the movie made but i think in the marketplace wearing spandex and cases and that there is but we have a beautiful landscape with a story and beautiful characters and fantastic storytelling. and then you have the liberty of it being based on true events and and is an important movie.it's also very entertaining and it makes you feel, makes you think and it is what i think cinema should really do. [video] spiezio looks good!>> tony: it is a very compelling and very moving film. if you have not seen it already, please do before it leaves theaters. you have to see this in a theater. >> haley: you give is a "a". >> tony: as i gave it a "a". it is rated r for language and violence but it is a movie that will stick with you for a while. one of my favorite films of the year so far is wind river. please gussy it. >> haley: i'm looking forward to it. thank you tony. if you want
